The department carries out training of specialists in the educational degrees "Bachelor", "Master", "Doctor of Philosophy" in the field of knowledge "Mechanical Engineering", specialty 133 "Industrial engineering", at the educational programs "Engineering of food production", "Engineering of pharmaceutical and biotechnological productions".
The Department also trains the specialists in the field of knowledge "Production and Technology" in specialty 186 "Publishing and Polygraphy", educational and professional program "Computer technologies of design and manufacturing of packaging".
In addition to the basic, more than 25 new disciplines were introduced to new training plans, which are mainly aimed at assimilating computer technologies during the calculations, designing and operation of technological equipment.
The educational process uses specialized laboratories of fermentation, dairy, meat and baking industries, pharmaceutical and microbiological industries, which are represented by operating models of equipment.
There are two computer classes with modern personal computers. Students use AutoCAD, Inventor and COMPASS-3D soft for creation 3-D equipment models in academic and research work; ELCUT - system of simulation of two-dimensional boundary tasks of continuum media mechanics; FlowVision software suite - for fluid flow simulation; Inventor and CREO software systems - for simulating stress-strain state of equipment components".
The University has a specialized academic council for the defense of thesis at scientific degree "Doctor of Sciences" and "Doctor of Philosophy". Applicants have the opportunity to defend their thesis in specialty 133 "Industrial engineering".
During the long period the Department has trained about 9000 specialists. Most of the graduates are employed at the management and engineering positions of the food, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
