The department of technological equipment and computer technology design qualifies specialists in the specialty:

  1. Bachelor Educational Degree: 133 - «Sectoral engineering» according to educational program «Engineering of food and biotechnological productions»
  2. Master's Educational Degree: «Sectoral engineering» according to educational program «Engineering of food productions»

The department qualifies Doctors of Philosophical Sciences and Doctors of Sciences in the specialty 133 «Sectoral engineering».

The department has the annual admission of students for full-time and distance learning. Postgraduate college and technical schools students enter the 2nd-3rd year of studying in a short program based on the results of the vocational examination. Graduates from other colleges and technical schools also have the possibility to study in a short program.

Over the years of its existence the department has qualified approximately a couple of thousand highly qualified specialists.

Graduates of the department has the wide range of future employment area:

  • Food industry enterprises and sectoral engineering
  • Information systems and technologies area
  • CAD design technologies
  • Construction, modeling, installation and technical service of food industry equipment
  • Production management
  • Design and technical audit of food industry enterprises
  • Scientific, pedagogical and administrative management activity.

In the department there is an operating centre of computed-aided design, which is equipped with the latest computer technology. New learning technologies are constantly being introduced based on the use of modern software and technical courseware. All term and diploma papers and master's theses are written by students using computer-aided design systems. The department has three specialized training laboratories equipped with appropriate electronic demonstration stands, equipment mock-ups and laboratory equipment. Students undergo practical training in modern enterprises, carry out real graduation projects and master's theses.

The educational process at the department is provided with modern textbooks, teaching materials, lecture notes and other educational and methodical developments.

Members of the department made a significant contribution to the development of theoretical foundations of processes and the creation of efficient equipment for food industry during the years of existence of the department.

The main directions of scientific work of the department are determined by promising industry requirements:

  • intensification of processes and equipment improvement in various branches of the food and processing industry;
  • modeling of technological processes of food production;
  • application of nanotechnology in food and processing industries;
  • application of modern baroque and electromembrane processes in the technologies of concentration and purification of biological liquids.

At the department there are scientific schools:

  • heat and mass transfer in processes of food production founded by Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences H.M. Znamenskiy and well-developed scholarly work of the Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor M.M. Pushanko, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences L.O. Orlova, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences A.I. Ukrainets, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences O.O. Seryogina, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor V.L.Yaroviy and others;
  • theory and practice of crystallization of sugars founded by Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences V.D. The department closely cooperates with scientific institutions and higher educational institutions of Poland, Serbia, Germany, Belarus, Bulgaria and with academic institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

According to the results of scientific work the department publishes monographs, receives Ukrainian patents for inventions and utility models, publishes articles in domestic and foreign professional journals. Part of the research is patented in the USA, France, Belgium, Germany and Russia. The scientific achievements of the department were presented at the General Assembly of the International Commission on Sugar Technology (CITS) in Munich, Antwerp, Madrid; at scientific conferences in Havana, Plovdiv, Minsk, Izmir, Kemerovo, Krasnodar, Budapest and others.

Scientific developments of the department have become widely used in industry. Among them: vacuum devices of continuous and periodic action; diffusion apparatuses and their transport systems; admixture traps in the process of sugar beet transportation; modernized beet sticks; dryers of friable and liquid food products, etc.

Students take an active part in the scientific work of the department. Each year, with the participation of students, about 20-25 security documents are received for an invention and for a useful model. Every year, at least 40 students participate in scientific conferences, publishing at least 15 articles in their own right and in co-authorship with the academic staff.

The staff of the department of technological equipment and computer technology of design drawing on the experience gained, directs its activities to ensure high standards of education and training of highly skilled specialists for the development of the Ukrainian economy.

1884

Was opened technical classes on the preparation of technologists and masters of sugar production, which initiated the training of specialists for the sugar industry according to the decision of the Kyiv branch of the Russian Imperial Technical Society

1930

Kyiv Institute of Sugar Industry was established, which included the Faculty of Mechanics and the Department of Mechanical Equipment of Sugar Plants which based on the Smilianskiy`s Institute of Sugar Industry, the sugar industry faculties of the Kamyanets-Podilsky Chemical Technology Institute, the sugar faculty of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute.

1944

The department was renamed to the department of special equipment for food production, which was headed by Professor H.M. Znamenskiy, author of the theory of centrifugal separation of sugar massages.

1954

The department is headed by the Honored Worker of the Higher School, Professor V.M. Stabnikov , founder of scientific direction on the theory and practice of processes and apparatuses of food production.

1957

The department is headed by Professor V.D. Popov , founder of the theory of heat-mass transfer during crystallization of sucrose.

1960

The department is headed by associate Professor M.O. Buzykin , author of textbooks on the design of sugar factories and equipment for starch factories.

1974

The department is headed by the Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Professor V.O. Anistratenko

1979

The department gets the name of the technological equipment of food production.

The department is headed by the Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, academician of UAAS, Professor I.S.Guliy , author of the theory and practice of continuous cultivation of sugar lavages.

1995

The department is headed by Professor V.H.Mironchuk , author of the theory of phase interaction in the system "solid body-solution-water vapor" in the crystallization of substances by evaporation of the solvent.

1997

A training computer center was created in the structure of the department.

2011

The department gets the name of technological equipment and computer technology design.
